IHC and National Trust for Canada Internship – Beginning September 2020
The IHC and the National Trust for Canada will be hosting a joint Young Canada Works internship beginning in September 2020. This position will offer a unique opportunity for an Indigenous candidate to work alongside two major heritage organizations to develop a Report Card on the State of Historic Places (integrating both Indigenous and non-Indigenous heritage values) and to redesign the National Trust’s annual Endangered Places List to consider factors that may presently jeopardize efforts to care for Indigenous heritage places. Those interested in this position can apply here.
Webinars – Beginning September 2020
The IHC will begin hosting monthly webinars in September 2020 with guest speakers from across the country on best practices associated with themes including repatriation, cultural landscapes, archaeology, and languages. These will include discussion on how the individual worldviews and legal systems of Indigenous nations can be integrated into the preservation of cultural heritage. Each webinar will be opened and closed by an Elder. Do you have a potential topic in mind? Do you want to be a guest in one of the webinars? Sign up for our monthly newsletter for more.
